COURSES
BASIC WILDERNESS FIRST AID
COURSE INFORMATION
This is an intensive 14 hour course. It is best taught over 1.5days, but in classes where students have prior first aid and CPR training, a single long day is possible. (we recommend 1.5days if you are taking this course for certification and for better skills training)
It is ideal for trip leaders, school teachers and anyone heading out into the wilderness on extended trips
Due to the design of this course, the class size is limited to 15 (other sizes, please call us for custom courses)
This is an interactive, practical hands-on course.
CPR is taught and revised, but no CPR or BCLS certification is given.
There will be a Multiple Choice Theory Tests and 1 Practical Test during the course. Final MCQ and Practical test score counts toward final grade. Those who fail the theory may re-sit another theory test wihtin 1 calendar month. Practical re-testing is carried out the same day. Final Test results are available within a week of the course. For certification, students must pass both sections.
Come comfortably dressed, preferably in what you would wear for a day out trekking or hiking. The practical sessions will involve bending, stooping and lifting of casualties. You will also be checking vital signs, practising bandaging , splinting and wound management skills on each other.
Bring a basic first aid kit - details will be given to course registrants. These items are recommended for a basic kit and we will use the contents for the course.
